I was writing a short blurb on why design is critical to the success of a strategy, and thought I would share it with you. I believe that a methodological strategic process is important and needs to involve everyone, and the tools from a design thinking mindset and its methodology can really cater to managing the needs of different stakeholders. So here it is.

New stuff-- portfolio B-SIDE
I've been working on a side-b of my portfolio website. I find that my professional portfolio is very serious, and a bit square, and I wanted people to know that not only is it true that I can think critically when solving issues at hand, but I also have a fun and creative side too.

100 in 1 Day Toronto - New Heights New Sights
I participated in this year's 100in1day event. It's about creating urban interventions and my intervention was about taking unused small spaces and turning them into something fun!
We took trampolines and embedded them into the ground along a pathway. The best part was watching people approach the installation with a bit of caution and tapping their toes on the rubber in hesitation before fully taking the leap onto the trampolines. And when they do, a smile erupts on their faces.

new screensaver
I have a new screensaver! I spent some time to make it today and I think it's brilliant. I know I'm entirely complimenting myself but really. It's adorable. It makes me smile every time my computer goes idle. Anyway I'm so happy about it that I made an illustration for it. Enjoy!

notebooks
I made more. I got a new Japanese stapler specifically for miniature notebook making. I still think I need to streamline this process better..
All of them are generally mini, except for the solid coloured ones which are 5.5" books.. I've been encouraging friends to take them off my hands, I'm at 100 books now..

Wall of a hundred fortunes
And that's a wrap! In the corner ready for the New Year market that opens tomorrow until after Chinese New Year is the wall of a hundred fortunes. I also finally got to meet the calligraphy artist. Now go! Check it out in person! Happy new year!

The Noble Steed Gallops into a Bright Future
The deadline is fast approaching! Vendors are coming in on Friday and due to some setbacks, as my friend puts it, "our backs are not against the wall, it's through the wall!" I'm still a little optimistic, as today is Wednesday... our time is tight but I am sure we'll make it.
On another note, the calligraphy wall is complete, it's pretty cool, although it's too bad you won't be able to experience both walls in full, simultaneously due to all the vendor stalls.

Year of the Horse
I wanted to send my friends some love for Chinese New Year, a card, or an illustration, or both, but I couldn't come up with anything I was satisfied with. This is far as I got and then Chinese New Year got really busy.

Chinese New Year
I've been asked to work on a project for a Chinese New Year market/fair.
If you're wondering what that is, or what it will sort of look like, imagine a weihnachtsmarkt, and then instead of the theme being Christmas, it's Chinese New Year, in reds and golds.
[**spoiler alert**]
The space is going to be wall to wall red with booths lining the center. We're going to have calligraphy running the the length of the entire wall welcoming the year of the horse.
I'm working on a mosaic wall tiled with the Chinese character for "good luck" .
[**spoiler ends**]
The timing is tight, we have about 2 weeks to turn the entire space around, get things printed and built, so I will be checking on construction in a few days. I need to do some material research first.
Anyway, if you are around near January 25 to February 2, do come by and check out the market!
