I liked my first self-portrait, but I figured it wasn't what the author was asking for.. I think she wanted something with more detail, more precision vs. the style I did originally. So I made more. I didn't like any of them. They don't look like me. But coincidentally a friend of mine called me that day and said that when I draw, I should concentrate, find a quiet spot, and focus. The results from a drawing in that "mode" will be much better than the same drawing made 5 or 6 times without fully concentrating. heehee. Perhaps I should work on my concentration more than my drawing?

heehee, notice how I tried to add "shading" instead of a "white" face...

*once again thanks to my housemate for scanning! (I should get a scanner)

drawing on the right side of the brain

I am taking up a suggestion by a friend of mine to blog what I do. Show my process work. Hopefully this will be a positive process! Thanks to my housemate for scanning my work for me in her boredom and my frantic Sunday nights.

One of my fears to drawing is adding the shading when I finish. I am always afraid that I am going to go too dark and so I leave the most to my imagination by leaving it blank..white..the colour of the paper. But then, I find that having the base colour to be white looks absolutely like unfinished work! Anyway here are the first three pieces in the book. Some pieces in the following pages I found to be kind of useless, or I just don't really understand why/the point of doing them, and I am very tempted to skip them.
enjoy.
